Meet Dr. Barry George, DVM
Dr. Barry George is a native of King, NC where he grew up working on his family’s farm. With responsibilities on the farm and summers volunteering with the local veterinarian, Barry knew early in life that he wanted to become a veterinarian.
Dr. George attended Appalachian State and NC State during his undergraduate years, graduating with a degree in Biology. He then attended the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, earning his degree in 1990. After graduation, Barry moved to Charlotte to begin his career at Archdale Animal Hospital. He purchased the hospital from his father-in-law, Dr. John H. Barton, and has owned Archdale since 1994.
Dr. George and his wife, Susan, have a farm of their own in Union County. There, they raised their three children, Matthew, William and Elizabeth, and continue to care for their various critters. When not at the clinic or doing farm chores, Dr. George enjoys building and flying model airplanes.

Learning about veterinary medicine first hand established a passion for it since childhood. He strove to become a veterinarian just like his father and grandfather.
Matthew attended NC State University, graduating in 2011 with a degree in Animal Science and then obtained his DVM in 2015. After graduation, Matthew returned to Charlotte to become the third generation of veterinarians at Archdale Animal Hospital. Matthew’s professional interests include veterinary dentistry and dermatology.
When not at the clinic, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their dog Twiggy.
